The Pink Boat Regatta announced today (10/1/2014) the organization’s $68,837 grant to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation as a result of this year’s September 7th regattas occurring in Seattle, WA and Bellingham, WA.
The Pink Boat Regatta®, operated by the Sound Contribution, a Seattle based 501 (c) (3) non-profit, held its third annual event in Seattle concurrent with the first Pink Boat Regatta® in Bellingham, WA. Participants spend months organizing and fundraising through the organization’s “buy-a-buoy” concept, earning points towards the competition on race day with each $100 raised for breast cancer research and prevention.
100% of net proceeds raised as part of The Pink Boat Regatta is donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, (BCRF). In 2014- 2015, BCRF will award more than $47 million in annual grants to more than 220 scientists from top universities and medical institutions around the globe. 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
